Team Managers! We need you!
Ever wondered how our teams operate so smoothly? That's right, our Team Managers!
From logistics to kit lists, comms to courts, bibs to byes, our team managers keep the information flowing between coaches, parents and players.
The Core Role of the Team Manager
Conduit between coach and parents. Important for teams with junior coaches
Organise volunteers for LWNC BBQ and cake stall days
Arrange subs/borrowing/lending players
Keep track of your players that have been borrowed
Ensure team is aware of training details & availability for matches
Attend training, or arrange for another adult to attend when your team has a junior coach to help with players
Keeping netball kit stocked. Speak with coach who is responsible for bringing it to/from training and matches
On game day be the point of contact for last minute team changes/availability issues
Check wet weather info and advise team on rainy days
Collect match sheet and arrange scorer. Make sure borrowed players correctly recorded on scoresheet (at end of match)
Make sure you have an umpire or contact umpire co-ordinator.
Remember, whilst the responsibilies are many, you are not alone. LWNC is here to support you.
Other Team Manager Tasks
These tasks are optional/in consultation with coaches/teams)
Organise player of the week or other team awards (with coach)
Organise team gatherings/social events
Keep roster for during/end of game “snacks” – oranges, watermelon, (or for a quick sugar hit) snakes, red frogs
Keep roster for player time on court to ensure equitable time
Borrowing Players
If you have 7 players - play with 7
If you have 3-6 of your own players you can still play with the help of borrowed players
Teams must have a minimum of 5 players
Your team can play with a maximum of 2 borrowed players
The choice of borrowed players is limited by:
Players cannot play DOWN any division/age
Players cannot play ACROSS the same division
Player cannot be more than 2 years younger than the age group they are being borrowed into
A player can only play a total of 3 games for any team in a higher grade throughout the season - each player must be aware of the number of times they have been borrowed
IWNA will deduct competition points from your team if these rules are broken
What to do if borrowing a player:
ALWAYS CHECK DOB as well as the age/division of the borrowed player
Record player’s name, team name and division of player on score sheet - your team will be fined if this is not done - you have until the end of the match to do this
Forfeiting
A minimum of 5 players per team is required to commence play. At the game commencement time, the team has 30 seconds to have 5 players on court, otherwise the game will be forfeited.
If your team needs to forfeit, please notify the COACHES WHATSAPP and the MANAGERS WHATSAPP
